It was a far cry from the acrimony and divisiveness that punctuated the meeting of AFTRA’s board of directors when it approved its last labor agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers four years ago. This time the merged SAG-AFTRA board voted overwhelmingly to approve the new three-year deal hammered out with the AMPTP during negotiations that began in May and concluded two weeks ago. According to reports, 90 percent of the board voted yes. The agreement, which, among other things, calls for a 2.5-percent wage hike in the first year and 3 percent hikes in the second and third years, now goes on to a vote by union members. Ballots are expected to be mailed out later this month with results announced on August 22.
