THERE’S LIFE IN AMERICA’S GOT TALENT YET

July 10, 2014 by · Leave a Comment

NBC’s America’s Got Talent bookended Nielsen’s list of top ten television shows last week, with the Tuesday edition capturing 11.1 million viewers and Wednesday’s, 6.4 million. CBS aired three repeat episodes of The Big Bang theory, and all three made the list. Although ratings were up slightly over the previous week, they remained pretty much in the summer doldrums, as a combination of repeat episodes, competition from the World Cup, and Fourth of July outings all combined to force ratings down. Ratings for the network evening newscasts were also down, but they nevertheless attracted more viewers than most of the primetime network offerings. NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams drew 7.5 million viewers, but ABC World News with Diane Sawyer was closer than she had ever been to overtake Williams. Nielsen indicated that she averaged 7.4 million, and The CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley came away with 5.9 million. CBS won the week in overall households with an average 3.2 rating and a 6 share. NBC came in second with a 2.9/6 (it won the week among viewers 18-49). ABC placed third with a 2.4/5, while Fox drifted far behind with a 1.7/3.
