In its third weekend in China, Transformers: Age of Extinction took in $25 million — that’s 52 percent more than the $16.5 million that the film brought in at home. Since it opened in China three weeks ago, Transformers: Age of Extinction has grossed a total of $262.6 million. That’s roughly twice what the movie has earned in the U.S. and Canada. And while 152 Chinese IMAX screens represent just 3.5 percent of the 4,400 that are showing the Transformers sequel those screens account for 11 percent of total ticket revenue from the movie in China. Meanwhile, How to Train Your Dragon 2 wound up the weekend falling just shy of $200 million from overseas sales. The movie has now grossed $199 million overseas, well above the disappointing $151 million that it has brought in domestically.
