It was a confusing night for CBS on Thursday. While most of its affiliates carried the network’s usual Thursday-night fare, about a quarter of them did not, including such major markets as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Boston. Those cities aired pre-season NFL football instead. In many of those, the regular CBS network shows aired instead on the CW stations. To make things even more confusing, programs on virtually all network affiliates were delayed or pre-empted by President Obama’s speech to the nation about the U.S.’s latest action in Iraq.
