USC’s famed School of Cinematic Arts has formed a partnership with the New Form Digital studio and producers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer to create a program to support and distribute student films online, the university announced on Monday. The program will be headed by Jack Epps Jr., chairman of the school’s screenwriting division, and Michael Fink, chairman of its film and TV production division. "This program is an experiment that we cannot wait to begin," said Epps and Fink in a statement. "We’re excited that New Form is enabling us to offer our students this unique experience, which moves the academic arena closer to the real world experience of working with industry professionals in creating content for various distribution platforms." Initial plans call for the selection of three student films that will be developed into a web series in the second semester.
