COLLEGE FOOTBALL TELECASTS SINK

September 29, 2014 by · Leave a Comment

Despite two college football games on the primetime broadcast schedule Saturday night, overall ratings of the night looked pretty much the same as they did before the football season began. ABC averaged 3.86 million viewers for the game between Notre Dame and Syracuse, while Fox pulled in an average of just 1.59 million for its coverage of the Baylor/Iowa State game. Indeed, both football telecasts drew ratings that were smaller than those for some of the competing entertainment shows. CBS’s 48 Hours in the 10:00 p.m. period took back its crown as the top-rated Saturday night show as its season premiere drew 5.49 million viewers, but a special on NBC, Music for Change: The Global Citizen Festival, averaged just 1.82 million viewers.
