NBC’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon continues to lengthen its lead against ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live and CBS’s Late Show with David Letterman. NBC boasted on Thursday that the latest Nielsen figures show Fallon’s audience is larger than those for Kimmel and Letterman combined among the 18-49 age group. Aiding Fallon was the fact that the Kimmel and Letterman shows on Friday were repeats. Among the 18-49 demo, Fallon averaged a 1.11 rating, while Kimmel and Letterman each averaged a 0.54. Adding to NBC’s jubilation was the fact that Late Night with Seth Meyers, with a 0.56 rating, also attracted more viewers than Kimmel and Letterman despite starting an hour later. Among total adult viewers, Fallon drew 3.87 million viewers; Letterman, 2.48 million; and Kimmel, 2.23 million. (Fallon’s audience is exactly the same size as Jay Leno’s during the 2009-10 season; during his final season, Leno averaged 3.58 million viewers.)
