If you’re not a football fan, you had little to watch on any of the four broadcast networks Saturday night. Each of them broadcast a college football game. CBS was the only network that did not devote its entire primetime schedule to football. Following an overrun of a college game that filled most of the 8:00 p.m. hour, CBS broadcast two hours of Reckless. That put it ahead in total adult viewers, but behind its rivals in ratings for the 18-49 age group. On Sunday, NBC’s Sunday Night Football (Bears vs. 49ers) drew 19.43 million viewers — more than the programming on the other three networks combined. Earlier in the evening, an overrun of CBS’s NFL Football game (Jets vs. Packers) drew 21.45 million viewers. ABC counter-programmed with the Miss America contest, which attracted an average of 6.74 million viewers, the fewest number yet for the pageant telecast.
