The Maze Runner, an adaptation of yet another young-adult novel, is hitting the screens this weekend, and analysts expect it to run past every other movie to wind up with around $35-40 million. Their figures are far higher than those of Fox, the studio that is releasing it, which is predicting a weekend take of around $20 million, perhaps in recognition of the fact that just a handful of movies released in September have ever grossed more than $30 million. The film has received mostly positive reviews, and it had a solid overseas opening in five markets last weekend. Two other new contenders are also making a run for the money this weekend: the "dramedy" This Is Where I Leave You, starring Jason Bateman, Tina Fey and Jane Fonda; and the Liam Neeson thriller A Walk Among the Tombstones. Each film is expected to wind up with around $10-15 million.
