Ratings for Sunday Night Football climbed this week. Overnight figures put the NBC telecast well out in front of everything else on TV as it scored with just under 20 million viewers (19.85 million) for the New Orleans Saints/Dallas Cowboys matchup. Earlier in the evening the final quarter of the Philadelphia Eagles/San Francisco 49ers gamer brought in 20.66 million in the 7:00 p.m. half hour followed by the post-game show, The O.T., which held on to 19.12 million. That lead-in gave Fox a considerable boost in its Sunday-night average. The season premiere of The Simpsons scored 8.5 million viewers;, while the season premiere of Family Guy managed to pull in 8.39 million viewers in the 9:00 p.m. hour.
