NOW: PRODUCT PLACEMENTS IN TV SHOWS AFTER THEY’RE FINISHED

With TV viewers increasingly hitting the fast-forward button on their DVR remotes when commercials appear, the U.K. based MirriAd, has come up with a technology that allows product placement to be digitally introduced into TV shows after they have already been completed. What’s more the same product placement scene featuring a brand in one country can be altered so that it touts a different brand in another country. Previously product placements had to be scripted and the products had to be physically introduced in filming. Music videos have included product placements for years; the Financial Times, which reported on the MirriAd technology, noted that Lady Gaga’s video "Telephone" features 10 different brands.
