RAY LEWIS COMMENTS ON FORMER TEAMMATE RICE; IGNITES NEW DEBATE

September 22, 2014 by · 1 Comment

The Ray Rice scandal ensnared another former football player on Sunday when Ray Lewis, a former teammate of Rice’s on the Baltimore Ravens and now an analysts for CNN, commented, "We’re here because we saw a friend of mine brutally hit his wife in an elevator. There’s some things you can cover up and then there’s some things you can’t." The remark hearkened back to the killing of two men in Atlanta after the Super Bowl in 2000 in which murder charges against Lewis were dropped in exchange for his testimony against two of his companions. Blood from one of the victims was found in Lewis’ limo. According to one of the limo’s passengers, Lewis told her and the other passengers to "keep their mouths shut." Lewis pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice.
