AMC, which has had remarkable success for a cable network with scripted programs such as Mad Men, Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, has decided to drop plans to introduce three new unscripted series and launch a second season of arm-wrestling contest Game of Arms. Instead, it said on Thursday, it will focus on developing additional scripted series — expensive as they may be. Only Talking Dead and Comic Book Men will remain on its schedule. In a statement, the cable network said that its scripted shows "have driven AMC’s evolution into a must-have television network." It said that while it was proud of its unscripted programs, "in an environment of exploding content options for viewers, we have decided to make scripted programming our priority."
