AUSTRALIA: IT’S THE NEW CARIBBEAN

It’s a long way from the Caribbean to Australia but that’s where the next Pirates of the Caribbean is set to be filmed. The announcement was made not by Disney, Marvel or producer Jerry Bruckheimer but by Australia’s Attorney General and Minister for the Arts George Brandis, who said the movie would be the largest international film ever shot in the country. He said that Australia had made a "contribution" to the film of A$21.6 million (US$18.8 million). There were indications that Queensland, the area where the movie is due to be filmed, had made an additional contribution. Queensland Premier Campbell Newman said the film would bring in about $87.1 million to Queensland and create thousands of local jobs.
