Jiminy Cricket! There it was online Wednesday — the first trailer for Disney/Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron, underscored with the lyrics from Disney’s Pinocchio: "I had strings but now I’m free." Low resolution, to be sure — but still, the trailer — which wasn’t supposed to debut until an episode of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC next week. The studio had no doubt about who the leader was. "Dammit, Hydra," it tweeted, referring to the organization of supervillains that the Avengers superheroes must grapple with if they are to save humanity. It then acted fast — posting its own high resolution trailer on the Avengers website and on YouTube, as well as the official poster for the film. The studio has plenty of time for more-controlled promotions: the movie isn’t due to be released until May 1, 2015.
