CAPTAIN MARVEL TO BECOME A WOMAN IN SUPERHERO MOVIE

Shazam! Just by shouting that word, the teenager Billy Batson was able to transform himself into Captain Marvel, the world’s mightiest mortal. Well, it would seem that by shouting that word, he’ll now become a woman. Actually, all we really know at this point is that Marvel plans to produce a Captain Marvel superhero — er, superheroine — movie in 2018 and that the Captain will be a woman. (She became a woman in Marvel comics in 2012.) Marvel announced plans for eight other movies, too, including a two-part Avengers: Infinity War, and a Black Panther movie in 2017 starring Chadwick Boseman (the first black superhero) — leading some analysts to question whether audiences will continue to shell out money for a plethora of such superhero films. During a news conference in Hollywood on Tuesday, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige responded to their concerns, saying, "If the movies deliver in terms of quality, they will succeed."
