CHINESE MOGUL SEEKS TO LURE PRODUCERS TO HIS NEW STUDIO

As China’s Dalian Wanda Group works to complete Oriental Movie Metropolis — which it says will be the largest movie studio in the world — Wanda’s chairman, Wang Jianlin, said on Tuesday that the studio will establish a $163-million fund to attract local and overseas producers. He also told the Wall Street Journal that the district government of Qingdao, where the studio will be located, would provide additional subsidies to producers. The goal, he said, is to "recreate Hollywood in China." Reports have indicated that some high-profile producers have already begun negotiating with Wanda representatives to bring their productions to China.
