Shares in DreamWorks Animation, which had been trading near their 52-week low, shot up more than 8 percent in early trading today (Thursday), following news that the company had beaten analysts’ expectations in its third quarter. DWA posted net income of $11.9 million, up 18 percent from the $10.1 million it earned during the comparable quarter last year. Revenue climbed to $180.9 million, up 17.1 percent from the previous quarter’s $154 million. DWA attributed its strong showing to the success of its How to Train Your Dragon 2, which generated $615 million worldwide in ticket sales.
