DreamWorks Animation chief Jeffrey Katzenberg disclosed on Tuesday that some 200 artists at the recently opened Oriental DreamWorks studio in Shanghai are working not only on Kung Fu Panda 3 but also on two other films based on Chinese legends. Speaking at the London BFI Film Festival, Katzenberg provided few other details about the two films — not even their titles — except to say that they are "movies that will be made in China for China, as well as for export to the rest of the world." He added, "When we finally announce what these two stories are my guess is there will be a phenomenal sense of enthusiasm and pride from the public in China because these are their stories." As reported by Screen Daily, Katzenberg went on to envision a time, only a few years away ("five years from now, maybe less"), when China becomes the world’s largest market for movies. "I’m very excited about the opportunity of China," he said.
