Netflix is reviving the Richie Rich franchise, which last saw Macaulay Culkin in the role of the richest kid in the world. That was in 1994, and the movie represented a single-shot attempt to bring the long-running comic strip to the screen. The Netflix series calls for 21 episodes to be produced. If kids "binge" on the series, they could conceivably watch all of those episodes during a single 10-hour stretch. In a news release, Netflix said that producers AwesomenessTV had reinvented the character "for the modern world." The series will tell how "After making a trillion dollars by inventing and selling a cool new green technology, Richie moves into a decked-out mansion and instantly starts living the most awesome life ever." The series, which stars Jake Brennan in the title role, is due to be released early next year.
