Universal Studios, which quickly constructed its first theme park in Southeast Asia — in Singapore — last year at a cost of $1.5 billion, is planning to build its first park in China, it announced today (Tuesday). The Comcast-owned company said that it had enlisted four Chinese state-owned partners in the $3.3-billion project, which will cover 1,000 acres, according to the company. It will join four other Universal Studios theme parks including the one in Singapore and those located in Universal City, California, Orlando Florida and Osaka Japan, Neither a groundbreaking date nor a completion goal for the Chinese park was announced; however, the Singapore theme park was completed blazingly fast — in about a year.
