According to German news reports, some 400 Cologne-based police officers have conducted a nationwide search of 121 apartments in 14 states looking for evidence of movie and music piracy by the portal Boerse.bz. Reports said that 2.7 million users have downloaded content from the site, which has earned "thousands" of euros as a result. "The rights holders, particularly film and music industry companies, however, go away empty-handed," said a statement by the Cologne Police press office. TorrentFreak.com, which tracks BitTorrent usage, said that the raids represented one of the largest anti-piracy crackdowns in history.
