ON HOME VIDEO LAST WEEK, ONLY THE FLOPS WERE NEW

November 6, 2014 by · Leave a Comment

With studios releasing a slew of flops on home video this past week — apparently anticipating weak demand over the Halloween weekend — the two films that dominated sales in the prior week were the same ones that did so for the week ended Nov.2: 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Days of Future Past and DreamWorks Animation’s Mr. Peabody & Sherman. The straight-to-video documentary America: Imagine the World Without Her, from conservative filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza placed third, ahead of the horror film Deliver Us from Evil. The romcom Begin Again debuted at No. 11 on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, while the Bruce Willis/Jason Patric thriller The Prince debuted at No. 13. On Home Media magazine’s rental chart, Universal’s Neighbors and Sony’s Sex Tape remained in first and second place for the second week in a row, while Deliver Us from Evil came in at No. 3.
