BOX OFFICE DOWN 5.2% FROM LAST YEAR

With several potentially huge blockbusters pulled off the 2014 release schedule so that they could be tweaked, the box office ended the year down $600 million from 2013 — or off 5.2 percent to $10.3 billion. Some analysts argued that if those films had been released on time, they would have boosted the box office well above 2013. The good news is that they’re likely to send it soaring this year.
