CNN’S BLIZZARD REPORTS: A SNOW JOB?

As everyone knows, cataclysmic weather stories are like manna from heaven for cable news, producing big ratings, ergo big revenue. One can only imagine the frenzied editorial conferences with reporters early Tuesday morning after weather forecasters predicted that the blizzard dubbed Juno would wreak havoc in New York City. Unfortunately for everyone concerned, the blizzard fizzled. But did that alter the news networks’ game plan? Not in the least. It would seem that only Jon Stewart got it right. (At least in the end, The Weather Channel acknowledged, “We did forecast a blizzard for New York. So did everyone else that we know of. And we were all wrong about that.”)
