MOVIE ADS HOT ON KIDS CHANNEL NICKELODEON

Movies have become the No. 2 advertiser (after toys) on Viacom’s kids-oriented Nickelodeon channel, taking over the spot previously occupied by food — principally snacks and cereals, Advertising Age reported on Thursday. In an interview with the publication, Nickelodeon exec Jim Perry said, “Hollywood had another great year in 2009, and I think we’ll continue to see that this year.” He mentioned anticipated business from three new DreamWorks [Animation] movies and a new Nick movie, all being released by corporate sibling Paramount, as well as the new Harry Potter movie (Deathly Hallows) from Warner Bros. “and some releases from Fox.”
