SAG ACTIVIST STEPS DOWN FROM BOARD
JoBeth Williams, one of the most conspicuous members of the activist faction of the Screen Actors Guild, has decided to step down from the union’s national board, a year ahead of the expiration of her current term, Nikki Finke reported on her Deadline Hollywood blog Monday. “I’ve learned several other high-profile [Membership First members] are also thinking of leaving their seats on the SAG national and Hollywood governing bodies now that their side isn’t in control of the guild anymore.” Finke added that the militant faction appears “demoralized” by the prospect of joint negotiations with the more moderate American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, which they predict will result in reduced residuals and benefits.
