Warner Bros. and Universal studios in the U.K. are looking to hire a tech-savvy student to work with them on hunting for online pirates, the website TorrentFreak.com reported on Monday. The website, which tracks issues related to BitTorrent websites, published a recruitment notice posted at the Manchester University student newspaper. In the job description, the two studios said that the $27,000 position would require monitoring local Internet forums for discussions about pirated WB and NBC-Universal content. Applicants would be required to scan for links to WB and Universal content, perform “trap purchases,” and eventually send out take-down notices. In its report about the planned website, Torrent Freak commented, “We encourage all eligible TorrentFreak readers to apply for this exciting internship and provide us with regular updates on Warner Bros.’ anti-piracy efforts.”
