ABC SAYS NIKE TOOK WOODS’S FATHER’S REMARKS OUT OF CONTEXT

April 9, 2010 by · 2 Comments

ABC News has disclosed that the current Nike commercial which features the voice of Tiger Woods’s father, the late Earl Woods, seemingly addressing him from beyond the grave — several commentators have described it as creepy — was taken entirely out of context. The network on Thursday posted a clip of the original interview on its website, and it is plain that Earl Woods was not even referring to his son at all when he used the words heard as a voice-over in the black-and-white spot. Instead he was discussing the differences between his own personality and his wife Kultida’s. Nike said that it did not intend to run the spot past the opening day of the Masters golf tournament on Thursday.
