DANCERS AND BASKETBALLERS COMPETE FOR VIEWERS; EVERYBODY WINS

The second hour of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars easily defeated the first hour of the NCAA men’s basketball telecast on CBS Monday night. According to overnight Nielsens, nearly 22 million viewers tuned in to the ABC dance contest while about 17 million watched the basketball contest. Crushed by the competition, Fox’s 24 attracted fewer than 8 million viewers. At 10:00 p.m., CBS’s NCAA coverage climbed to 21 million viewers, while ABC’s Castle wound up with a solid average of 12 million.
