While audiences for the broadcast networks continue to dwindle, those for some cable networks continue to expand. The latest example: Sunday night’s premiere episode of America, the Story of Us on the History Channel, which drew 5.7 million viewers, making it those most-watched special ever broadcast by the channel. In a statement on Monday, History Channel President and General Manager Nancy Dubuc said, “The success personifies the hunger for information and the desire to reconnect with our past. Ultimately there’s no story more dramatic and gripping than the story of America itself. We’ve tried to present this incredibly diverse narrative in a way that is engaging for people today.” The channel plans to present six episodes of the series on Sunday nights through the Memorial Day weekend.
