WOODS RETURNS IN NIKE AD

Tiger Woods is not only returning to the links today (Thursday) for the start of the Masters golf tournament in Augusta, GA, but he is also returning to television in a commercial for Nike. According to a description of the spot by Reuters, it is an odd commercial that appears aimed more at restoring Woods’s reputation than at selling Nike product. In the black-and-white spot, Woods is seen facing the camera while his late father’s voice is heard in the background, asking “Tiger? I want to find out what your thinking was, I want to find out what your feelings are, and did you learn anything?” Woods does not reply. Nike spokesman Derek Kent told Reuters: “The ad addresses his time away from the game using the powerful words of his father.” Other advertisers who have used Woods as their spokesman in the past, including Accenture, AT&T and Gatorade, have given no indication that they intend to embrace him again.
