NBC announced today (Tuesday) that Jimmy Fallon will host the Primetime Emmy Awards on August 29. In a statement released by the network, Fallon, who was a presenter at last year’s awards telecast — and made a memorable skidding pratfall on stage — quipped, “Hosting the Emmys has been a dream of mine ever since they told me I was doing it.” Said John Shaffner, chairman and CEO of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences: “Jimmy Fallon provided one of the most memorable and talked about moments from last year’s Emmy telecast. … He is a bright, insightful and energetic entertainer who made his name performing on live television, and we welcome him to host our annual celebration of great television as the show returns to broadcasting live coast to coast.”
