PTC MOUNTS NEW PROTEST AGAINST “FAMILY GUY”

The Parents Television Council, the group principally responsible for flooding the FCC with complaints about allegedly indecent TV program content, is up in arms over last Sunday’s episode of Fox’s Family Guy. In it the family dog Brian eats a dirty diaper, licks the baby’s behind, and vomits. “The broadcast decency law makes specific reference to content that depicts excretory functions that are patently offensive for the broadcast medium,” said PTC President Tim Winter in a statement. “It seems as though Family Guy creator, Seth MacFarlane, carefully reviewed the legal definition of broadcast indecency and set out to violate it as literally as he could.” Under FCC rules, indecent material is defined as anything that “depicts or describes sexual or excretory organs or activities in terms patently offensive as measured by contemporary community standards for the broadcast medium.” Neither Fox nor MacFarlane has commented on the PTC’s complaint.
