THEME SONG EMMYS RESTORED

The music branch of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has rejected plans to eliminate the primetime Emmy award for main title music. Last month the academy’s board of governors, observing that only a handful of television shows use theme music any longer (most of those that do are animated), proposed doing away with the award effective next year. The academy said that 121 ballots were cast by the music branch and that 85 voted against the plan.
