The Paris-based Reporters Without Borders has demanded that Israel release 15 journalists who were taken into custody last weekend by Israeli forces during a raid on a flotilla attempting to breach Israel’s blockade of Gaza. The journalists, from Europe, Asia and Australia, have not been heard from since the raid, and their whereabouts are unknown. In addition, Reporters Without Borders said, “An al-Jazeera TV crew was attacked by Israeli citizens in the port of Ashdod yesterday after the defense minister gave a news conference about the attack on the flotilla. Walid Al-Omri, Al Jazeera’s bureau chief in the Palestinian territories, was injured in the attack, which followed virulent criticism of the Qatar-based TV station in the Israeli media.”
