“AMERICA’S GOT TALENT” WINS ANOTHER ROUND

June 30, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

NBC’s America’s Got Talent once again nabbed the top two positions on Nielsen’s ratings list for last week, but overall, CBS remained in the lead, placing seven shows in the top ten, all of them scripted (except for 60 Minutes) and all of them repeats. It didn’t make the top ten, but CBS’s coverage of the annual Daytime Emmy awards did land in the top 25 and was the highest-rated show in its two-hour time period on Sunday night — a far cry from a year ago when it was carried by the CW and wound up in the nether regions of the Nielsen ratings list. For the week, Spanish-language Univision finished in first place among Adults 18-34, and it had nothing to do with its coverage of the World Cup, which was not played in primetime. Moreover, it’s Tuesday-night episode of the telenovela Soy tu Dueña was the most-watched program last week among adults 18-34 among all networks.

The top ten shows of the week according to Nielsen Research:
1. America’s Got Talent (Wednesday), NBC, 7.2/12; 2. America’s Got Talent (Tuesday), NBC, 6.8/12; 3. NCIS, CBS, 6.5/12; 4. The Mentalist, CBS, 5.7/10; 5. Two and a Half Men, CBS, 5.6/9; 6. The Bachelorette, ABC, 5.4/9; 7. The Big Bang Theory, CBS, 5.3/9; 7. NCIS: Los Angeles, CBS, 5.3/9; 9. Wipeout (Tuesday) ABC, 5.1/9; 10. 60 Minutes, CBS, 5.0/10; 10. (Tie) CSI: Miami, CBS, 5.0/9
