CBS said on Monday that it will launch its summer hit series Big Brother across four platforms — broadcast TV, online, mobile, and cable — beginning Thursday, July 8. In addition to the CBS Television network, content will be made available online via the CBS Audience Network, which will allow “distribution partners” to incorporate clips into their sites. They include the websites of the company’s television and radio stations, as well as dozens of sites such as TVGuide.com, IMDb, Fancast, Yahoo, MSN, and Windows Media Center. In addition, the episodes will be simulcast on the CBS Mobile Channel, hosted by FLO-TV. “Viewers will be able to interact and influence the show by participating in fan polls via SMS text messaging from their mobile phones,” the network said. Finally, a live telecast from the Big Brother house will air between midnight and 3:00 a.m. every night on Showtime, the network’s only cable network, which ordinarily broadcasts movies.
