SAWYER NARROWS GAP WITH WILLIAMS

Among the nightly newscasts last week, ABC World News with Diane Sawyer continued to cut into the lead of NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams last week. ABC said that compared to the same week a year ago when the newscast was anchored by Charles Gibson, it delivered 400,000 additional total viewers. Based on a weekly average over three days (the newscast was preempted on Tuesday and Thursday due to the NBA Finals) ABC attracted 6.81 million viewers overall and 1.96 million adults 25-54. NBC remained on top with 7.56 million overall and 2.29 million adults 25-54. CBS Evening News with Katie Couric continues to see its audience stagnate with 5.2 million tuning in of which 1.66 million were adults 25-54.
