SWEDISH FILMMAKER CAPTURES PIRATE
A Swedish filmmaker who found his documentary about moose hunting being pirated on The Pirate Bay and other BitTorrent sites has taken matters into his own hands and has tracked down the alleged infringer and is suing him for $15,000, TorrentFreak.com reported Monday. The filmmaker, Tor Lundberg, reportedly contacted the man, who also is a Swedish resident, by telephone, telling him that he had found him based on his Pirate Bay user name, but the man insisted he wasn’t involved. When Lundberg reported the matter to police, the unidentified man said that while the film may have been uploaded through his account, he wasn’t the one who did so. TorrentFreak quoted Lundberg as saying that the alleged pirate had “destroyed him.” It’s one thing, he said, “to share Madonna’s work, who is [a] multi-millionaire … but when you make something yourself, it’s your own money you have invested in it. So the effects are much more severe.”
