The Teamsters Union, which has frequently found itself at odds with fellow unions representing workers in the TV and cable industries, has sent a letter to FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski backing the Comcast-NBC Universal merger. Leo T. Reed, who heads the motion picture division of Teamsters Local 399, said, “We believe that the Comcast-NBCU transaction is in the interests of the workers we represent, the motion picture industry and our economy as a whole.” And, speaking for Teamsters Joint Council 42, Randy Cammack said, “We strongly believe that marrying two American entertainment companies will strengthen the economic future of our members.”
