The jury is still out on whether consumers will ever be willing to shell out big bucks to acquire 3D-compatible television sets in their homes, but initial live 3D telecasts to theaters is proving to be a huge success. The Los Angeles Times reported today (Monday) that theatrical telecasts of the World Cup final match between Spain and the Netherlands (Spain won) received an enthusiastic reaction from local theater patrons, with one telling the newspaper, “It’s the most exciting thing I’ve ever seen. … I’m not usually much of a soccer fan, but I really think this 3D is going to revolutionize the way sports are shown.”
