“60 MINUTES” REMAINS TIMELESS WINNER

The highest-rated show on primetime television Sunday night was also the longest-running show on primetime television: CBS’s 60 Minutes. The magazine show attracted 7.58 million total viewers; nevertheless it ranked third among adults 18-49. The No. 1 show among younger viewers in the 7:00 p.m. hour was a repeat of ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos, which attracted 5.27 million total viewers. CBS remained in first place at 8:00 p.m. with its hit summer series Big Brother, wIth. 7.22 million total viewers. The reality show appears to be gaining strength despite the fact that it is now in its 12th season. Meanwhile, at ABC two summertime scripted dramas, Scoundrels and The Gates, continued to be ignored by viewers in the 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. time period. Each placed 4th in its time period.
