Warner Bros.’ Inception remained the box-office leader on Friday, despite a solid challenge from Sony’s Salt. According to studio estimates, the Christopher Nolan mind-bender earned $13.3 million to bring its total to $113.5 million after eight days, edging out the Angelina Jolie starrer, which took in about $12.7 million in its debut. Universal’s Despicable Me stayed in the lead as the top attraction for families, coming in third with $7.3 million and raising its total to $59.2 million. But the opening of Fox’s Ramona and Beezus, which competed for the family crowd, failed to make much of an impression, earning just $2.9 million to place sixth.
