SWEDISH PIRATE PARTY OFFERS PROTECTION TO DOWNLOADERS

The Swedish Pirate Party, which holds two seats in the European Parliament, plans to launch a new ISP from within parliament, offering anonymity to users and funneling profits into the party, the website TorrentFreak.com reported today (Wednesday). The announcement comes on the heels of another announcement by the Pirate Party (Piratpartiet) that it has offered bandwidth on its servers to The Pirate Bay, the most visible of all the BitTorrent file sharers and therefore the target of numerous anti-piracy actions by anti-piracy groups including the Motion Picture Association of America. “This is one way to tackle the Big Brother society,” Gustav Nipe, the CEO of Pirate ISP, told Torrent Freak.
