TEEN IDOL BIEBER TO GUEST ON “CSI”

In an apparent gambit to attract younger viewers, CBS’s hit drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation has cast 16-year-old teen idol Justin Bieber in an upcoming episode. The producers of the show said that he will portray “a troubled teen who is faced with a terrible decision regarding his only brother — a decision that leads him into an explosive confrontation with the CSIs.” The CBS news release suggested that he’ll return for at least one additional episode. “It is the beginning of an emotional story that will conclude later in the season,” it said. The casting evoked numerous snarky comments from online media websites. New York magazine’s Vulture blog remarked. “Bieber and CSI aren’t an obvious fit — Bieber’s demo consists of the daughters of CSI‘s demo.” Nellie Andreeva on the Deadline Hollywood blog commented, “I bet millions of tween and teen girls are now asking their moms: What is CSI?”
