BASEBALL WEBCASTS — MORE INTERACTIVE THAN EVER

Forget 3D! Major League Baseball announced Monday that it is debuting additional online interactive features as the current season enters its final two months. One of them is simply the ability for viewers of the webcasts to watch the game as if they were sitting in the stands, with just the audio of the crowd and the sound of the ball smacking into the catcher’s mitt or cracking off the hitter’s bat. As each player steps up to the plate, viewers, if they so wish, will also be able to see how he performed in his previous at-bats. MLB said that it is also lowering its one-time subscription fee to $39.95 for the remainder of the season , noting that the fee includes: “up-to-the-minute statistical information, Twitter integration, in-game highlights, fantasy player tracker, full game archives, and [cellphone and iPod] portability.”
