Final box-office results for the weekend came in almost exactly the way the studios had estimated, with Christopher Nolan’s dreamweaving drama Inception, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, topping the list in its third weekend with $27.5 million. In its debut, Dinner for Schmucks, starring Steve Carrell, was not far behind with $23.5 million. Two other newcomers, Charlie St. Cloud and the 3D Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore, had lackluster starts, opening in fifth and sixth place respectively. But two holdovers, held over well. Salt, starring Angelina Jolie, came in at No. 3 with $19.5 million, while Despicable Me added $15.5 million to its gross, which now stands at $190.3 million after four weeks.
