FALLON SAYS CONAN GAGS WILL FIGURE IN EMMY TELECAST

Jimmy Fallon insists that neither NBC nor the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is restricting him in any way when he hosts the Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday. In an interview with DeadlineHollywood.com, Fallon said, “No one’s telling me anything like, don’t go here, don’t talk about Conan. We’ll touch on the stuff the network’s gone through. We’ll probably have a couple of jokes in there about all of the late-night stuff. You can’t not talk about it. And we have a couple of ideas with Conan.” Asked whether the network was “scared” about the possibility of violating the non-disparagement clause of its severance agreement with Conan, the Late Night host replied, “Nah, it’s all cool. He’ll be there. At least that’s the plan. We’re not sure Jay is going to be around. We hope he comes, too. We’re not sure right now.” Asked whether he himself has any hope of someday hosting The Tonight Show, Fallon replied, “The one thing I’ve learned from [David Letterman and Conan O’Brien] is that hosting Late Night is a one-way ticket to not hosting The Tonight Show.
