Ron Newt, a self-described “gangsta pimp,” who sometimes calls himself Prince Diamond, claims that he has put together a 64-minute documentary using footage from the Jackson 5’s Triumph Tour. The tour covered 36 U.S. cities over 10 weeks in the summer of 1981. The celebrity website, which describes Newt as “a former Jackson associate,” said that Newt claims that he was so close to Michael Jackson that the singer handed over the behind-the-scenes footage, in which he can be seen performing and directing the production. The TMZ item suggests that the documentary focuses on Michael Jackson, although the singer did not tour as a solo artist until 1987. Newt told TMZ that he’s getting offers for the documentary “from several interested parties.” Jackson’s This Is It concert documentary grossed $252 million in theaters last year. Newt produced a documentary in 2008 titled Bigger than Big, which one reviewer on the described as “one of the worst documentries I have ever seen.” There was no immediate comment from anyone close to the Jackson family about the TMZ report.
